Wine:

"The Croix de Carbonnieux displays an attractive ruby colour and, on the nose, red fruit, blackcurrant and blackberry, with that very pleasant touch of smokiness that Léognan wines have"

Vinification:

Hand harvested, vatted for 3 to 4 weeks in thermo-regulated tanks, aging for 12 months in marrain oak barrels (of which 35% are new).

Color:

Intense, attractive ruby red colour.

Nose:

Subtle and smoky on the nose (typical of Léognan), aromas of red fruit and blackcurrant, lightly toasted and grilled.

Palate:

Smooth and seductive on the palate, with attractive smoky, fruity and spicy notes.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Roast meats, strong cheeses.

Founded in the 13th Century, Château Carbonnieux is among the oldest in Bordeaux. The Perrin family took up the reins of this historic estate in 1956 and invested heavily in its restructuring. In 1959, the Château was officially classified "Cru Classé des Graves". Today, with Eric and Philibert Perrin at the helm, the superb wines of Château Carbonnieux have gained a superb reputation.
