Plantation - Rhum - Fiji 2004

Characteristics

Country / Region: Fiji - islands

Category: Rhum

Composition: Molasses rum

Alcohol: 50.3 vol.

Capacity: 70 cl

The Plantation Fiji 2004 Rhum is a molasses rum, aged for 17 years in a tropical climate in 200-liter bourbon casks, then for a further 2 years in cognac barrels, with aromas of exotic fruits, cocoa and spices. The intense nose first releases notes of coffee, vanilla and caramel, followed by peach, orange peel, banana, pear and walnut. The tangy, oily palate picks up this nuanced register, with a touch of citrus zest and coconut. The very long finish releases notes of smoky molasses, almond and clove.

Elaboration:

Made with molasses rum from the Rum Co of Fiji distillery and distilled in a column still. Aged for 17 years in bourbon casks in a tropical climate, then 2 years in cognac casks.

From the finest distilleries in the Caribbean, Plantation rums benefit from French expertise and a dual culture, born and aged in the tropics, then matured in Cognac.

Alexandre Gabriel, a renowned Master Blender, has created a unique and exceptional range of terroir rums, based on a selection of rare batches and very specific expertise in aging.

All rums, blends and vintages alike, benefit from a unique "double ageing" process: the rums are brought back by boat to the Charentes region, where they are matured for several months in Maison Ferrand barrels.
