The estate and the wine |

Located in Neive, in the heart of Barbaresco, Fontanabianca is a family-run estate managed by the Pola family since 1969. This esteemed Piedmont address, modest in size, crafts a distinctive and finely honed range from 14 hectares of vines.
Aldo Pola and his son Matteo now lead the production, continuing the historic tradition of Neive wines, known for their fragrance and delicacy. |

A fine expression of Piedmont, the 2021 Red Barbaresco offers an accessible and charming take on this renowned appellation. True to its Nebbiolo roots, it reveals aromas of morello cherry, blood orange, spices, and a subtle smoky touch. The tightly knit palate features firm tannins surrounding delicate, refined fruit flavors. Seductive and sapid, it finishes with finesse and balance—a true "iron fist in a velvet glove." Best decanted before serving, it pairs beautifully with red meat, whether grilled or slow-cooked, such as osso buco with a hint of spice. Enjoy over the next five to eight years. Rated 94/100 by the Selection Committee. |
