Wine:

A favourite of the Selection Committee and rated 94/100, the 2024 Côtes du Forez Red La Madone is an outstanding success — a wine of pure pleasure, charming with its elegance, freshness, and silky-smooth tannins. This pure Gamay, known locally as Gamay de Saint-Romain, offers a vibrant and deeply expressive wine, brimming with juicy fruit flavors — think red berries, Burlat cherries, and a hint of spice. Balanced, fresh, and irresistibly indulgent, it’s a wine that delights from the very first sip.

Vinification:

Hand harvested, completely destemmed, wine left to ferment for around ten days, aged for three and a half months in stainless steel vats. Lightly filtered.

Certified organic and biodynamic wine.

Color:

Almost black with purple highlights.

Nose:

Beautiful flavours of red fruits supported by spicy notes and Burlat cherries.

Palate:

A wine that unfolds with purity and depth, bursting with vibrant fruit flavours. Its silky tannins and fresh character make it irresistibly appealing.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Simple meat and fish dish, vegetable garnish, pan-fried veal hanger steak and carrot tops, peas and turnips, platter of charcuterie.

Driven by Gilles Bonnefoy, Les Vins de la Madone has become the new benchmark for the volcanic wines of the Loire Valley. Set at the highest point of the river, on basalt and granite soils, the vineyard has been farmed biodynamically for over twenty years, allowing this unique Forézian terroir to fully express its character.

The result is a collection of meticulously crafted wines, bursting with freshness and purity, already highly sought-after by enthusiasts.
