AWARDS

Wine rated 92/100 by our Selection Committee!

Wine:

A Selection Committee Favorite born from one of the coolest areas in California, about ten miles east of the city of Mendocino. The 2017 Pinot Noir combines all the most virtuous attributes of its varietal, such as notes of Morello cherry, sweet spice, macerated cherry and above all, a palate of beautiful volume. We enjoy this full and unctuous style which preserves the freshness and the black fruit markers of the grape variety. Straightforward and precise, this is a very beautiful wine that will delight all wine lovers.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Vinification carried out with 40% of whole grapes, in oak barrels of which 20% are new. No filtration at bottling.

Color:

Deep and intense red.

Nose:

Morello cherry aromas underlined by notes of sweet spices and macerated cherry.

Palate:

Dense and concentrated, this wine offers us freshness and smoothness through a frank and precise profile.

Temperature:

Serve between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Beef Bourguignon, duck with cherries, mature cheeses.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2026

California is one of the most exciting and inventive wine-producing nations in the world. Halcon Vineyards is a model in this diverse territory: organically farmed, the vineyard enjoys a very cool climate on the highest point in California, 750 meters above the Anderson Valley and the Pacific Rim.

Paul and Jackie Gordon chose this ideal location, with shale soils similar to those of Côte Rôtie, following the lead of great winemakers of the Northern Rhône Valley. Planted mainly with Syrah grapes, their vineyard also includes a few Grenache and Mourvèdre vines, but also Pinot Noir, conducive to this beautiful juicy wine that will make you discover another facet of this elegant grape. These are free-standing vines, i.e. not grafted, which grow on a gentle south-facing slope and produce very few, well-concentrated grapes. We enjoyed this wine so much we imported it directly for you!
